Direct Support Professional (Residential or Community)

Job Description:

Noble Abode Care are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide care and support to individuals who have (development disabilities or mental health conditions) in our supportive service programs. The DSP will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life and promoting independence for our clients through personalized care and supportive activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Individualised Support and Care:
    • Provide direct, hands-on support to individuals, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene.
    • Develop and maintain a supportive relationship with each client, fostering a sense of safety and well-being.
    • Documentation and Data will be required to be input at the end of each shift.
  • Behavioral Support and Management
    • Implement individual behavior support plans to assist residents in managing their behaviors and developing coping skills
    • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to modify care plans as needed to meet the evolving needs of our clients.
  • Health and Medication Oversight:
    • Assist with medication administration, ensuring adherence to prescribed dosages and schedules.
    • Monitor and document the health and emotional well-being of clients, reporting any concerns to supervisory staff promptly.
  • Life Skills Development:
    • Support clients in developing and maintaining life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and personal care.
    • Encourage and facilitate participation in recreational and educational activities that promote social skills and community integration.
  • Transportation and Community Engagement:
    • Provide transportation to appointments, community events, and other activities, ensuring residents’ safety and punctuality.
    • Promote community inclusion by assisting clients in accessing local resources and participating in community events.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health conditions, preferred
  • Training in behavioral management, CPR, first aid, and medication administration, required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, part-time or PRN positions available, with varying shifts that include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Training Requirements:

  • Must complete all required initial and ongoing training sessions, including but not limited to, direct care, emergency response, and behavior management.

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and maintain a clean driving record.
  • A personal vehicle may be required for transporting clients, with mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Must maintain vehicle insurance required.
  • Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Writing is required.
